Devlog #0.11: Complete revamp

As I prepared to unveil the first version of my RPG maker character creator and shared it on social media, I anticipated constructive feedback. However, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that this release was more than just a first version—it required a complete overhaul.

Here’s a glimpse of the changes:

Simplified Selection:

  • Hair now includes eyebrows, offering a more comprehensive customization experience.
  • Shirts now encompass sleeves, adding depth to character design compared to the current version.

Updated UI: The user interface has been revamped using a CSS library, though it’s still a work in progress as I experiment with different elements.

Enhanced Functionality:

  • Added the option to save characters and reopen saved designs, allowing for greater flexibility and creativity.

Adapting to Change:

While I’m eager to launch, adapting to these enhancements requires updating all skin assets due to alterations in the base character. To streamline the process, I’ve simplified to a general body type for now. However, these adjustments pave the way for future enhancements, including diverse body types and up to 8 directions of animation. Leveraging 3D models to create the base and then rendering them to Pixelover has facilitated this evolution.

Hand-Crafted Artistry: Despite utilizing 3D models, each skin and costume is meticulously hand-drawn in the beloved pixel art style, ensuring a unique and authentic aesthetic.

Stay tuned for more updates as I refine this project to deliver an even more immersive and customizable experience!
